6.5 - Fall Back Move

Core Rules, p. 16

A Fall Back move is a special Movement Action made when a unit fails a Panic test or a Rallying test. A Fall Back move is usually 2d6" and is made toward the nearest board edge. The unit must move the full distance rolled and is not slowed by Difficult or Dangerous Terrain. When making a Fall Back move, models must make the most direct movement possible toward the board edge. Models must stay 3" away from enemy models, and cannot move through allied models. If it is impossible to move a model away from an enemy more than 3" then that model is slain. If a unit is trapped and cannot move without having to move through enemy or ally models, the unit is slain and removed from play. When performing a Fall Back move, a unit that is moving to avoid contact or being within 3" of an enemy model may result in it moving further away from a board edge temporarily. A unit that performs a Fall Back move can only shoot Snap Shots in the shooting phase, and cannot Embark a vehicle or building, nor can it charge in the charge phase. If a unit that is performing a Fall Back move is charged in the Charge Phase, the unit takes a number of automatic wounds (with no saves allowed) as if they were caught in a Sweeping Advance (see 12.1 step 9).
