8.5 - Attack Sequence
Use the following attack sequence for each attack made by a friendly model. In some cases, you can roll the dice for multiple attacks at the same time (see 8.4.2).
Step 1: Roll to Hit
Roll a dice. Consult the following chart to determine if the attack hit.

If the roll is equal to or greater than the target number indicated on the chart by the unit's Ballistic Skill (BS) characteristic, the attack hits. If it is lower than the target number, the attack misses.
If the model making the attack rolls an unmodified hit roll of a 1 and has a Ballistic Skill (BS) characteristic of 6 or more, they must re-roll the dice. The attack hits if they roll equal to or above the second result on the chart under their Ballistic Skill. If a model or weapon has a special rule that grants a re-roll, that re-roll takes precedence over the re-roll granted from having a Ballistic Skill (BS) of 6 or greater. You may still only re-roll a dice once, regardless of the source.
Step 2: Roll to Wound
Roll a dice. Consult the following chart to determine if the attack wounded.

Step 3: Save Roll
Your opponent then rolls a Dice. If the result is higher than the target unit's Save (SV) characteristic, the target is saved and the attack sequence ends. If not, the attack is successful, the target of the attack takes a wound. This is referred to as an Armour Save.
Step 4: Allocate Wounds
Once all of a friendly unit's attacks have been made, add up the total number of unsaved wounds inflicted on each target unit. The player commanding each target of the unit must allocate a number of wounds equal to the number of unsaved wounds inflicted on it (see 9.1).
Step 5: Panic Tests
After all wounds have been allocated and the unit conducting the shooting has made all other attacks, check to see if a target unit who suffered unsaved wounds is Panicked. If the target unit after allocating wounds has 25% or more of its remaining models slain rounding up, it makes a Leadership test referred to as a Panic Test. If less than 25% of the target unit was slain, the attack sequence ends. For a Panic Test, roll 2D6. If the roll is equal to or less than the Leadership (LD) characteristic then the test is passed, nothing happens. If the roll is higher than their Leadership (LD) characteristic, the test is failed, and the unit must immediately perform a Fall Back move (see 6.5).
