8.1.1 - Overwatch

Core Rules, p. 20

Any unit may be set to Overwatch. A unit that sets to overwatch gives up its shooting phase, and cannot make any ranged attack. This allows the unit to make an overwatch attack during the opponent's next charge phase. If a unit that is Set to Overwatch is declared the target of a charge, that unit may immediately make an Overwatch attack against the charging unit.

This attack is resolved as a shooting attack following the shooting attack sequence. Overwatch attacks do not cause Panic tests. A unit may only make 1 Overwatch attack during a turn. A unit may not make an Overwatch attack if there are any enemy models within 3" of it.

At the end of the opponent's charge phase, if there are no enemy units within 3" of a unit that is set to Overwatch, then that unit may make a shooting attack against an enemy unit that is within 12" of it and not within 3" of any other friendly units.

Weapons with the Blast & Large Blast special rules may not be used in Overwatch attacks.
