The Relic
"Across the galaxy, war destroys history but the power of a peoples icons and beliefs are sometimes enough to sway a campaign. As relics are lost and found, some commanders feel justified in risking men and resources for the retrieval of such objects. A Relic may turn the tide of a crusade with its power, or inspire the people to great acts of bravery and sacrifice upon the altar of battles to come. Either way, when a battle unfolds between forces over a relic, they are bloody and brutal."
Determine which player will be the Attacker and which player will be the Defenders.
The Attacker is seeking to claim the relic for their own, arriving in force to scour the area for the relic. The Attacker deploys first.
The Defender seeks to despoil or deny the enemy their relic and have prepared for the arrival of the enemy as they also search. The Defender deploys second.
The Relic
At the centre of the battlefield, place a single token/objective marker/object to represent the relic. The relic may only be picked up by a model with the Character Keyword only if the model ends its movement within 2" of the relic. A model that has the relic may not shoot, charge, fight, perform reactions, perform Psychic Powers, Machine Rites or Prayers. If a Character with the relic is slain and removed from play, before they are removed from play, place a token/objective marker/object to represent the relic within 1" of the model.
Evacuation
As the attacker and defender have their transports waiting on standby elsewhere nearby to retrieve them once the relic is in hand,
