Force Recon
"Before a battle, strike teams and recon elements range ahead of the main forces, sweeping over an area. These units scan and survey the area often as part of reconnaissance for the coming battles. Often these groups are competing against the same forward elements of the enemy. Thus, reconnaissance in force is used to not only gather precious information but drive back and deny the enemy of the same crucial information."
Determine which player will be the Attacker and which player will be the Defenders.
The Attacker has the initiative in this race to drive forward and sweep the area. The Attacker deploys second.
The Defender has fallen behind in this race to drive forward and sweep the area. The Defender deploys first.
Forward Elements
In this mission, units may not Infiltrate during deployment. The front lines are moving too fast for these units to sneak ahead of their allies.
Victory Conditions
The Attacker and Defender both have 3 objectives each (for a total of 6 as seen on the battlefield layout). Both the Attacker and Defender must sweep each of their objectives in ascending numerical order. To Sweep an Objective, a unit that can perform a reaction must, instead of shooting, set to observe while within 6" of an objective marker. If the unit that Set to Observe is still alive and on the battlefield at the start of its next controlling player turn, that player scores 1VP.
Objectives must be swept in numerical order to generate VP. If a player does not sweep their objectives in numerical order, they do not score any VP for successfully sweeping an objective. Objectives cannot be swept simultaneously. If a player has 2 different units attempting to sweep 2 different objectives, only the objective whose correct turn it is in the sequence of objectives will generate a VP. Multiple units may attempt to sweep an objective but only 1 VP is ever scored per objective swept. An Objective can only be swept once.
The winner is the player with the most VP at the end of the game.
